Franky Moth’s art is the story of a lifetime.

My work is a ritual and an extension of self. I investigate cycles of life, growth, death, and decay through collection and collage. All work is made of curated trash and intended to fall apart or be reused. The acts of creation and destruction parallel phases of my personal life.

Pieces are assembled like memories made physical, using texture, image, color, and sentimentality to reconstruct something forgotten. Pieces are destroyed like memories, rearranged as they are recollected, again and again. Every time you recall a memory, you change the moment with the act of remembering.

Who am I in this moment? How will I be different tomorrow? Who did I used to be? These are living pieces that will continue to change, grow, and mutate as I age. Death is the only permanency.

Material collection is itself an act of art. All objects used in the work are found ritualistically, acquired over years for their novelty, colors, shapes, textures, and the memories they hold. A scratch ticket from my father, a lucky penny from a parking lot, a soda can from a friend, a cigarette from a stranger, a stolen pen, a t shirt that never fit right.

Memory creates memory creates memory. I am made of everything around me, no boundaries between body and environment, self and creation.

If you like what you see, take a picture, because it’ll be different tomorrow.
